The marcasite used in fashion and fine jewelry pieces to day is a unique form of the iron, pyrite. Often shaped with a faceted finish, it gives off a metallic luster which often distinguishes it as Fool’s Gold.

With the holidays just around the corner, I was already in search of a gift for a family member that enjoys the beauty of marcasite jewelry. That said, I was easily swayed to choose this elegant glass, marcasite, and sterling silver creation.
When removing the pendant from the plastic bag, I could not help but noticing the 18" Singapore sterling silver chain glistening in the light. It by itself is a show stopper. The larger then life, red flat glass heart is nicely mounted in the silver and marcasite casing. The intricate filigree on the back of the pendant can easily be seen through the red glass.
The chain and pendant casing truly amplify the beauty of the 1 1/4" red colored heart. Both the bail and pendant frame are elegantly defined with gems. Indeed the photographs on this site can be deceiving. For this creation is much more radiant in hand. I am sure the wearer of this timeless piece will remember the very moment she laid eyes upon it.
